my clock. it tells me what time it is
There are several factors that are all involved in the speed (or lack thereof) of your computer. To simplify, the major components that directly affect the speed of your computer are: * Processor speed * Bus speed (communication between the motherboard and the processor) * Memory speed/quantity * Hard drive speed There are other items that can have an impact on the speed as well, such as how many applications are running in the background, and what services are running.
PROM is "Programmable Read Only Memory" RAM is "Random Access Memory" Prom is used to retain data even when the computer is turned off. RAM is used by the computer to run applications when the computer is running. RAM is high speed memory that can be read/written while the computer is running. Applications and data are loaded into RAM every time your computer is turned on. PROM, ROM, EPROM are all versions of memory that typically contain the same data every time the computer is turned on.
== == Mcafee is a very large program with a lot of componets. These componets take up a lot of space for memory. In full function Mcafee is constantly running scans, firewalls, etc. Which means your computer is always reserving space for the Mcafee componets that are currently running. In other words there is less memory for you computer to run other applications like your internet browser. Thus your computer is slower. Don't worry though. Through security applications have the same affect on your computers speed. There's really no way of getting around this problem.
If no, or few, applications are left up and running a computer will not consume much power when left on. Computers in general consume less power then a single light bulb when running. At idle they may go down to as little as 30 watts depending on age, speed and configuration of the computer.
It is hard to know for certain, but it could be a problem with the memory in your computer. If you don't have a lot, it will slow down the speed it loads applications like Excel and others that you would have on your computer. It is hard to know for certain, but it could be a problem with the memory in your computer. It will while the program is running, but after it stops running there will be no change in computer speed.
The harddrive runs at a set speed as default you can't change it so yes it will be running at full speed.Join my PC help site http://www.pchelphq.com/
I am not sure what computer you are running but if you go to control panel and then performance you can choose what you need to increase your computers speed.
Installing DDR SDRAM on your computer will actually make your computer run faster, and will make it easier to run multiple applications at once.
Motorola 68000 running at an effective speed of about 6MHz
Rich internet applications are softwares which are msotly use by internet consumer on their graphic user interface(G UI) mostly to enter time code and to decorate G UI
"RAM" is Random Access Memeory. It's the high speed memory that's on the motherboard and allows the computer to load instructions and data quickly into the processor during normal operation."Swap" space is an area on the computer disk that has been reserved as space for overflow. When there are too many applications CURRENTLY RUNNING or applications that are CURRENTLY RUNNING that are too large, large blocks of data are swapped into the swap space, freeing up some of the high speed memory.Typically, if the operating system is reasonably intelligent, data is only swapped to disk that is not currently being used.Excessive disk swapping will slow your computer dramatically. It's always a good idea to remove unnecessary applications from your startup.Your computer can have many applications on disk, as well as a lot of data. Only the CURRENTLY RUNNING applications can be impacted by swap space.
