John Wayne Gacy is an American serial killer that is also known as the Killer Clown. He was convicted of killing at least 33 boys/young men for a period of six years starting 1972 and lasting until 1978.
Gacy, born in Chicago in 1942, seemed to be on the right tract to a successful life dispite a troubled childhood. Twice married with two children, Gacy was accused of raping a boy. At about this time his second wife noticed a bad smell coming from the crawlspace under their home. The second Mrs. Gacy sought a divorce and Gacy was on his own. It was all he needed to let his murdering ways have free rein. With rumors of young boys and men being raped and other simply disappearing police paid a visit to Gacy's home. One officer had worked in a mortuary and recognized the bad smell as decomposing flesh. Police found seven bodies in the crawlspace and another six buried in the back yard. Thirty-three murders in all, Gacy lured them into his house, where they were handcuffed, tortured and finally strangled. Gacy was executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correction Center on May 10, 1994.
