Cisco IOS' (depending how recent they are) send out Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) announcements on SNAP-header supporting interfaces: Ethernet, ATM, or Frame Relay.
"Show CDP Neighbor" shows all Cisco devices with direct routes to your device. It will show you their VTP Domain & Status, host name, native VLAN, and duplex settings. These messages are sent by default every 60 seconds, and have a hold time of 180 seconds. If within that 180 seconds there isn't a fresh CDP announcement received, the information is lost from the table until another is received.
