You are probably thinking of the clarinet, a woodwind with a single reed and a cylindrical bore.
Clarinet.

A double bass is a large, upright, low-pitched, violin type stringed instrument. It does not have a reed of any number.

Clarinets and Saxophones both make up single reed instrument families. There are others, but these are the two most well known. The clarinet has a nearly cylindrical bore and is made of wood or a wood substitute. The Saxophone has a conical bore and is made of brass.
The different types of alto instruments include the alto saxophone, alto clarinet, and alto flute. These instruments differ in their size, shape, and the way they produce sound. The alto saxophone is a brass instrument with a single reed mouthpiece, the alto clarinet is a woodwind instrument with a cylindrical bore and a single reed mouthpiece, and the alto flute is a woodwind instrument with a curved headjoint and a larger size than the standard flute. Each instrument has its own unique sound and playing technique.

Along with every clarinet, the bass clarinet is a single reed instrument.
I think you are referring to the Bb clarinet which is single but there are acually 3 different types of clarinets. Bb=single Oboe=double Alto=single
No, it's not :) Reed instuments are instruments that you use a piece of wood (a 'reed') on the mouthpiece. You don't put an organ on your mouth, so therfore it isn't a reed instrument. Examples of a reed instrument are; saxophones, clarinet and bass clarinet.
All reed instruments are part of the woodwind instrument family, but there are some other woodwinds also that are not reed instruments - mainly the flute.
