How to Make a Unique Tablecloth?

If you know how to hand-sew a running stitch or work a simple sewing machine, you can make a unique tablecloth for any size table. First, measure your table. Add 20 inches to each measurement. If your table is 24x40 inches, for example, you will need fabric that is 44x60 inches. Go to the fabric store and choose a print for your tablecloth. Purchase any light- or medium-weight machine-washable fabric. While 100 percent cotton is softer, fabric with some polyester included will stay wrinkle-free and won’t need to be ironed after a tumble in the dryer. Most fabric sold on bolts is about 45 inches wide; if the shortest end of your table is longer than 22 inches, be sure to choose fabric that comes in wider sizes to avoid needing a seam in the middle of your tablecloth.
