If you're referring to Italian lire, Italy switched to euros in 2002 so the lire is now obsolete. At that time 500 lire were worth roughly half a U.S. dollar; you can get more accurate currency rates by going to the http://currate.com site.

Also, you will see the Lire currency images on every currencies listed there.

The Italian lira (including the 500 lire note) was replaced by the euro in 2002. Therefore, a 500 lire note is no longer legal tender and has no exchange value. However, as a collectible item, its value would depend on factors such as age, condition, and rarity to collectors.

The Italian lire is no longer in circulation. At the time that Italy switched to the Euro, however, it would have been equivalent to about 30 cents.

Nothing. Lire are not made in anymore in Italy. You MAY be able to exchange it for Euros, but I doubt it.
