Mode A transponder response can be paired with the pressure altitude of the aircraft from a separate pressure encoder. This is known as Mode C, or Mode Charlie. An ATC request to squawk Mode Charlie / Mode C means that they want to see the pressure altitude data of the aircraft in the transponder's response, usually to assist with separation.
ATC codes identify each individual aircraft. They are 4 digits long and are programmed at the start of each flight onto the aircraft's transponder. Once airborne the transponder sends information back regarding the aircrafts position, altitude etc so that ATC can keep track of them. The transponder also 'speaks' to other aircraft transponders and provides information to the aircrafts anticollision system. The only codes not used for aircraft are 7500, 7600 ad 7700 which are emergency codes.
Locksmiths have transponder detectors that read if a transponder is active within a key. The device we have is called "TD3AII Transponder Detector" by Ilco.
Code 7600 refers to squawk code 7600, an emergency transmition code for airplanes. There are three emergency squawk codes for an airplane's transponder: 7500 - Hijacking 7600 - Communications failure 7700 - General Emergency (running out of fuel, engine failure, etc) Almost every airplane is equipped with a transponder to "squawk" information like altitude, relative position and direction of movement back to air traffic control (ATC.) The pilot can also program various four digit codes into the transponder to tell ATC additional information. For instance: if you squawked code 7600 (read seven-six-zero-zero) a signal on ATC's radar tells them you're without radio; if you squawked 7500 near a tall building you have a good chance of being shot down by an F-16. Another example is when flying under Visual Flight Regulations (VFR) conditions you would squawk 1200.
Most aircraft have what is called a "Transponder" which is basically a radio transmitter that has in it the aircraft flight number, speed, height and maybe even its course. The flight number can be changed using a selector box in the cockpit The Transponder waits until it gets and interrogation signal from the tower's secondary radar system and then it automatically transmits all its information. An individual interrogation signal can be sent to a particular aircraft but generally its an ALL aircraft transmission from the ground so all aircraft in the vicinity transmit their information. In his way along with the towers Primary radar are aircraft controlled and monitored by ATC
The Daewoo had NO transponder on any of their vehicles from 1999-2002. Incorrect. The Daewoo Leganza had a transponder option in 2001+, as did the Lanos. The Nubria had a transponder option in 2000+.
