Andrew Jackson was the 7th US President. He served in that position from 1829 to 1837. His political party association was with the Democrats of his day.
The answer to what was his biggest contribution requires a subjective answer. With that said, many historians give him credit for making contributions to American society in the following ways:
A. He is given credit for defeating the British at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815;
B. He sent US troops as President to South Carolina, his place of birth in 1767, to stop the US State of South Carolina to thwart their attempt to nullify Federal tariff laws in 1832;
C. In 1832 he saw the US Bank of the United States as a problem and withdrew from it government funds, then vetoed the new proposed charter for that bank;
D. In 1835 paid of the last installment of the Federal debt, and thus became the first President to clear all of the federal debt; and
E. In 1836 ordered that all Federal lands be purchased only with silver or gold. This made any such sales not subject to any bankruptcies that would hurt the US Government.
