Yes. In particular in America (where they do not use IBAN numbers) the NCC is referred to as the Routing number. To transfer to US you also will often need the name of the bank (obviously) and also the address. You will also need the swift code, for example, for Bank of America the Swift Code is BOFAUS3N (as of 28th Feb 2013)
At the other financial institutions, they use what's called an IBAN: International Bank Account Number,and B of A does not participate in this program (evidently no U.S. banks do).
