CV stands for (constant velocity). These type carburetors are normally used on motorcycles. A CV carburetor (Constant Velocity) incorporates a vacuum operated slide that varies the venturi size within the carburetor, thus maintaining a constant velocity. The slide also holds a needle that when lifted by the opening slide varies the amount of atomized fuel delivered.
The 1998 xtz has a Teikei Y 26 PV carburetor. This is a dual carburetor where the smaller primary carburetor is of conventional type. The larger secondary carburetor is CV type.
The 1983 FXSB came stock with a Keihin B28E 38mm carb, which is a butterfly-type, that is to say a non-CV (constant velocity) type. CV Keihins didn't appear until 1988.

Should be a 38 mm kein carb. Butterfly type. They are slightly undersized for the engine. A cv-40 is better. you will need new manifolds, push & pull cables but it's worth it in the long run!

I believe that the carburetor type fuel/ air ratio delivery system was replaced by Fuel Injection, no carburetor to the best of my knowledge.
