In the south, it's just like northern States, but as you get farther north, it gets colder.
It really depends where in Canada you are taking about because Canada is the second largest country in the world. From my experience, having lived in Toronto and Ottawa, Canada is well below freezing during winter. There's a lot of snow during the winter time... however, during the summertime it is equivalent to California weather.... at least that it is how I remembered it to be.
