Man and woman joined together by God. Secondly, man and his wife must be both attached to Jesus Christ and surrender their wills to His.

Just as you need to study Christ, study each other. Learn. Live. Love.

Ephesians 5:25-27:

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."

1Peter 3:7:

You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.

Proverbs 3:5-6:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

The Bible is very specific about the subject of marriage. First, a marriage is between a woman and a man. God himself performed the first wedding ceremony in the garden of Eden explaining the cycle of human relationships. That a man leaves his parents home, takes a wife and begins a new family should be obvious to anyone. It is also found in scripture that a woman is to make herself available sexually to her husband at all times. The same is true for the husband satisfying his wife. This provision in the New Testament is to prevent acts of adultery and other sinful carnal deeds or behavior. That a man can be prosecuted for raping his wife is another indication today's society has chosen to live by its own set of rules. While a man is to be the head or authority of a household, he should respect and seek the opinion of his wife on important matters. The husband and wife should always treat each other with respect and love. The Bible explains it as loving your spouse as Christ loves His bride (the church).

1. It is God's idea and not the churches.

2. Once married God hates divorce

3. It is for a lifetime.

4. If one spouse dies then the remaining spouse can remarry.

5. The relationship between the church and God has the same relationship between the husband and wife.

A Christian wedding does not necessarily follow any set pattern, but it is characterised by acknowledging that marriage between a man and a woman is a gift from God and ordained by God. Such acknowledgement takes the form of vows before God and their witnesses that they will follow God's laws and the guidelines given in the Bible to ensure their commitment to one another for life. Christian weddings include joyful worship, and the acknowledgement that Jesus is Lord of all - including marriage.
