Christmas is celebrated, but not like in more developed countries. Since people are off work and out of school, many families travel to get together for the holiday and a Christmas meal. In the pueblos, due to lack of money, gifts are not exchanged.

yes, Christmas is celebrated in Dominican Republic, however due to the fact that many families are poor gifts aren't / sparsely exchanged. The spirit Dominicans have during the holidays are among some of the best. In good cheer, Domicans have their meal on the 24th, where many other countries naturally have theirs on the 25th. With music, dance, and Alcoholic Beverages, Dominicans know how to have a good time with little resources, making the best of their situation during the holidays in many cases.
