It is a castor oil based brake fluid. Do not mix with systems requiring Dot 3 or Dot 4 which are glycol based.

Is brake fluid a coolant?

I would say any fluid could act as a coolant. Brake fluid DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 is a polyethylene glycol based fluid. DOT 5 is a silicone based fluid. DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 will absorb water, reduce its boiling point and degrade its performance.

Where is the brake fluid reservoir in a 84 VW Vanagon?

Remove the cover of the speedo and you will see there. Good luck. The cover over the speedometer and tachometer removes by pulling from the back to the front, and lifting up. You will find the brake fluid reservoir in the middle on top of the master cylinder. This also serves the clutch slave unit if you have a manual transmission. In addition, you will find two screw-in switches in the sides of the master cylinder, these are pressure activated and control the brake lights (a common failure item, and cheap to replace. Be sure to use Dot 3 or Dot 4 brake fluid, but NEVER Dot 5. Bleed the brakes at least once every two years. Don't forget to Bleed the clutch slave too. Be sure to place an old towel or rag around the reservoir when filling, to avoid splashing of brake fluid on wires in area.

Where is the brake fluid reservoir on a 66 dodge dart?

Pour the fluid down the transmission dip stick tube. This is easier if you use a special transmission fluid funnel which has a long snout and is available for a couple of dollars any place auto parts are sold.

Can you use brake fluid as power steering fluid?

No!

Why won't the brake warning light go off?

Four Possible reasons... Low brake fluid - check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder Emergency brake is on - check emergency brake Low brake fluid pressure - such as a broken brake line or a bad wheel cylinder. Check the master cylinder to see if it is empty. If you add fluid and pump the pedal you will probably see brake fluid on the ground or on the inside of the tires. Possibly a bad master cylinder. - The fluid will stay full but you will have no or little brake pressure. Could be air in the system as well. BE CAREFUL If you happen to add power steering fluid or transmission fluid to the master cylinder instead of brake fluid you will destroy the system. Make sure you use ONLY brake fluid and clean the master cylinder cap off with a clean rag first so no dirt gets into the braking system.
