Death Note was first serialized as a weekly shonen jump from December 2003 to May 2006. The anime series aired in Japan from October 2006 to June 2007. Three live-action films were released seperately on June 2006, November 2006 and February 2008. A Death Note novel, Death Note: Another Note, The Los Angeles BB Murder Case, written by Nisioisn was released in Japan in August 2006.
"B" is Beyond Birthday. He is not mentioned in the anime nor the manga. He is mentioned in the book "Death Note; Another Note." Also: B, BB, Beyond Birthday or Backup is the serial killer from the Death Note novel by Nisiosin. In it, BB attempts to create a case that L cannot solve and become the "Master Criminal" worthy to L. More information can be found here:http://deathnote.wikia.com/wiki/Beyond_Birthday
Death Note: Another Note: The Los Angelas BB Murder Cases is not something that you can watch. It is a spin-off novel from the original Death Note series by nisosin.
You cannot read it online for free legally. It's better to buy the actual book. It's actually very cheap from Barnes and Noble
Strategy (which was used by B in attempt to defeat L by creating a case he would not even solve himself.) Persistance (this applies to how far B would go just to beat L) and Horror (pretty much self explainatory, which is basically the style of the killer of how he acts)
BB is not in an episode or volume of Death Note, nor is he in the live action movies. Beyond Birthday is a character in the spin off novel that features Naomi Misora, the Los Angeles BB Murder Case. That book, called a light novel (due to its short length) is the ONLY canon reference to BB. The closest he gets to being referenced in the anime or manga is L mentioning that he has worked previously with Naomi Misora. In the manga, if I remember correctly, L even refers to the Los Angeles BB Murder Case by name, so I guess his initials are in the actual text. But, without having previous knowledge that BB is indeed the initials of a person, one would be hard pressed to garner such information from that singular reference.
