Edward had a human life in Chicago during WWI, it was happy yet slightly boring. His father was a lawyer and his mother a housewife. In September 1918, when Edward was 17, influenza killed both of Edward's parents, and nearly killed him, too. Edward's mother's dying wish was for Carlisle Cullen, the Doctor Who cared for the family, to save Edward. She seemed to suspect Carlisle was a vampire and could save Edward by changing him. Carlisle did change him. Edward usually pretends to be Carlisle and Esme's adopted son, but before the familly was so big, he was Esme's "younger brother."He's been through Medical School twice, but he never actually used his degrees and became a doctor. His hobbies were, and are, collecting cars nad driving fast. 1927-1931 he left Carlisle and Esme. Deciding he would drink the blood of only the truly evil, he used his special talent and read everyone's minds to avoid good people. He eventually decided to come back in 1931, knowing what he was doing was wrong. In 1936 the family all moved to Forks and met the Quileute Indians, who could turn into wolves. This made them werewolves, the natural enemy of vampires. The Cullens made a treaty with them, the Cullens stayed off their land and bit no one, and the Quileutes would leave them alone. The Cullens eventually all moved away. In 2003, they all moved back to Forks. Then, in 2005, so did Bella. That's when Edward met her.
