"From the Service Manual: Enhanced Traction System (ETS) The Enhanced Traction System (ETS) is designed to limit wheel slip during acceleration. This objective is accomplished by cutting fuel to selected cylinders, retarding spark and upshifting the transmission. The EBCM monitors wheel speed slip through the ABS wheel speed sensors and determines the desired torque reduction needed to minimize wheel spin. The torque reduction the EBCM requests may result in a combination of fuel cutoff, spark retard, and upshifting the transmission, depending on the torque reduction required. This request is sent from the EBCM through the serial data link to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM then calculates and employs fuel cutoff and spark retard values to achieve the requested engine torque. If the EBCM determines that the engine torque reduction is not sufficient to minimize wheel spin, it will request a transmission upshift. The ETS will be enabled when the ETS switch is in the ON position (TRAC OFF indicator not illuminated), the engine coolant temperature is within normal operating range and the manifold air temperature is within normal operating range. There are a number of reasons that the ETS will be inhibited or disabled. * INHIBITED: Not all modes of ETS are available. i.e.: no spark retard, but transmission upshifts are still available. * DISABLED: No ETS modes are available Some of the items that can inhibit or disable ETS are: * ETS OFF switch is in the OFF position. (Disabled) * EBCM senses a valid brake switch input. (Disabled) * Park brake is engaged. (Disabled) * Catalytic converter temperature rises above the normal operating range. (Inhibited) * Engine coolant temperature is not within normal operating range. (Inhibited) * Manifold air temperature is not within normal operating range. (Inhibited) * PCM sets a DTC that turns on the CHECK ENGINE lamp. (Inhibited or Disabled) * PCM sets a Failure Record that does NOT turn on the CHECK ENGINE lamp. (Inhibited or Disabled) * EBCM sets a DTC C1221, C1222, C1223, C1224, C1225, C1226, C1227, C1228, C1232, C1233, C1234, and/or C1235 (any wheel speed sensor DTC). (Disabled) Refer to Self-Diagnostics for more information. ETS OFF Switch The ETS OFF switch is a momentary contact switch. The ETS OFF switch enables or disables the enhanced traction system. When the EBCM needs to illuminate the TRAC OFF or LO TRAC indicators, it will transmit a signal (via serial data link) to the Electronic Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and the IPC will illuminate the indicator. The amber TRAC OFF indicator will be illuminated when ETS is disabled or when the driver switches ETS off with the ETS OFF switch. As a bulb check procedure, the EBCM will command the ETS indicator ON for 3 seconds when the EBCM receives power (ignition in ON position). With the ignition in the OFF or START positions (loss of serial data), the IPC will illuminate the ETS OFF indicator lamp. The amber LO TRAC indicator will be illuminated to alert the driver of a low traction situation and to inform the driver the ETS is operating. As a bulb check procedure, the EBCM will command the LO TRAC indicator ON for 3 seconds when the EBCM receives power (ignition in ON or START positions). With the ignition in the OFF position (loss of serial data), the IPC will illuminate the LO TRAC indicator. Enhanced Traction System or Traction Control.
Enhanced Traction System.

ETS stands for Enhanced Traction System. This is GM's version of Traction Control.
retardation of spark to any one or two of the engine cylinder....when the wheel understeers or oversteers during turningEnhanced Traction System...
ETS on a GT means Enhanced Traction System (ETS) or Traction Control.
it means you have your traction control turned off Enhanced Traction System
Expiration Term of Service
It is supposed to. ETS (Enhanced Traction System) is turned on and off with that switch. Leave it on. The system is on and working when the light is off.It is supposed to. ETS (Enhanced Traction System) is turned on and off with that switch. Leave it on. The system is on and working when the light is off.
It stands for "enhanced traction system "
ETS means ENHANCED TRACTION SYSTEM or what is commonly called, (Traction Control) The button is used to turn it off and on.
It stands for Enhanced Traction System, and it helps both tires during slippery conditions.
The throttle position sensor is used by the computer to know when you accelerate or decelerate and how much, or for that matter if the throttle is static or has gone to idle. The enhanced traction system would use that information as well as information from various other sensors to know how to react to any given situation.
Enhanced Traction System. It usually indicates that your traction control is turned on, or in some cars, that it's actually working to keep your car from losing control.
These systems are called Traction Control or in your case Enhanced Traction System. It is either on or off. Yours is turned off, thus the off light.
ets is enhanced traction system ... pretty much, it prevents the wheels from slipping and increase traction (obviously) but, its wicked fun to turn off because the tires spin out essentially, the way this works is that the system reduces engine output ... so there you go
Dynamic Traction Control is sometimes referred to Dynamic Stabilization Control. In essense the system takes into account traction, braking the driver handling into consideration in order to apply the appropriate traction to the tires. This control improves traction. Standard Traction Control automatical adjusts to what ever tire is slipping at the time and compensates with the other. There has been instances where this correction has enhanced the skid causing an accident. DTC is a superior form of control as it takes many factors into account before apply the equalization of traction control system.
The enhanced traction system, or ETS, on a vehicle allows for better handling in certain weather conditions. DIY repairs for these systems are generally not recommended; they should be done by a qualifiedÊmechanic.
it is a enhanced traction service light simple sensor
Traction Control System Traction Control System
A traction control system is an anti lock braking system, designed to prevent less traction of driven wheeled vehicles. It is also called an anti slip regulation.
You have a problem with the Anti-Lock brake system. This system is used by the traction control system.
No, the traction control system will not work but no damage will be done. You can drive it in this condition if you wish.
There are different kind of traction control system. the logic behind them is to detect tire spin (when you loose traction) and the car will mechanically or electronically adjust the output of the motor to prevent slippage.
Check engine light is for telling you that there is A problem with the fuel injection or emissions system, Most of the time there is no major problem to really wory about. ETS is the light for the Enhanced Traction system (traction control) This is not A vital component of your car.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Both of those said, I suggest you take your car to A repair shop to have it checked out to determine the problem.
