It is supposed to. ETS (Enhanced Traction System) is turned on and off with that switch. Leave it on. The system is on and working when the light is off.

Button on side of gear shifter is pushed in!
I haven't solved the problem by replacing a relay switch and a shifter part. However, there is a yellow lever that can be pushed located under the brushes on the shifter on the center right side of the shifter. If you press on the break, turn the key in the ignition and press the yellow lever, this will release the shifter out of park and then it wil move into neutral. The car will start in neutral. This is how I've been dealing with it. Alternative is to always park on level ground leave it in neutral when parked and start it in neutral.
Because you pushed the tow/haul button on the gear shifter. Push it again and see if that fixes the problem
on the side of the shifter facing the driver there is a rectangular button. if it's pushed in then OD is on. If it's sticking out, OD is off.
There is a broken wire below your shifter in the console. This controls a solenoid that releases the key. The shifter in the center consle has a part that controls a current to solenoid in your steering column. A quick fix is a nail or piece of wire to release the key. This is in the steering column. There is a pop out that must pushed in to release the key. A longer term fix to replace the part in the shifter.
Check to make sure that the brake lights are working - shift interlock and brake lights are a common circuit. Check stop light fuse If the engine is off, there is a small square cap next to shifter. Remove cap and use a screw driver to depress button inside hole where cap was removed. This will unlock the shifter.
The shift lock release is usually a button on the side of a shifter. The shift lock release button needs to be pushed in before the car can be moved from Park to another gear.
i have heard that there is a little button or switch beneath the brake pedal that is actually responsible for the release of shifter maybe something is wrong there?? I understand it to be merely a(n) ageing lubricant issue in the shifter head. In fact, I found out on ths forum how to remove the shifter to fix this. (small clip pulled out of a slot in the back of the shifter knob) Be careful not to over-lubricate, mess up wiring etc.
Ummmm, the shift cable broke or came off the lever under the dash?
On the left side of your gear shifter you should have a little button that's been pushed in.The (S) stands for sports. When the (S) is lite, you can shift your car like a standard.
When a moving plate collides and is pushed under another plate it is known as a subduction zone. Subduction zones are located at convergent bounties. The plate that is pushed beneath the other plate is then consumed in the asthenosphere.
