The Murray River is Australia's longest navigable inland waterway. It was used extensively for transport in the past, with paddle steamers transporting goods and passengers from where it forms most of the border between Victoria and New South Wales, to Goolwa, near its mouth, in South Australia.In addition, the Darling River is a significant waterway, with its many tributaries, as are the Murrumbidgee and Lachlan Rivers.
