As a workbook can have multiple sheets there are occasions where you would be referring to data on different sheets from each other. It is then a requirement that you specify which sheet you are referring to. So there needs to be a sheet reference along with a cell reference. This is done by having the name of the sheet followed by an exclamation mark, after which you can have the cell. The cell A6 on Sheet2 would be referred to as follows:

Sheet2!A6
