"Island" is Icelandic for "Iceland" so "island krona" means "Iceland crown". If the coin has a recent date it's only worth face value. At the end of 2008 the crown has been trading at less than one U.S. cent.

I don't know but I have a tiu kronur island 2004 coin that I just found in my bedroom and it's hard to find a coin of this sort anywhere (except for Norway). So if you find one like I did, follow exactly what I write down on this page. You have 2 options 1. Go to your local bank and ask them to how much it's worth (in the amount of dollars, or cents). 2. Save it so after a long time you can sell it on EBAY or something. It'll be worth a lot by then.
