Between the 1760s & the 1770s a guy from Spain came to America hoping to search for the "legendary fountain of youth." His name was Juan Ponce de Leon. He discovered a tropical peninsula located in North America. It was so sunny there that he gave Florida the nickname "The Sunshine State" because he thought that the sunlight there was extremely powerful compared to the strength of sunshine in Spain.
