Hydroelecticity is very abundant and is considered a renewable resource because it will never run out. Many hydroelectic dams have be built in areas that aren't necessarily on a major river. But rivers have been diverted into man made reservoirs to create water pressure.
Water flowing through a turbine which is connected to an electric generator converts the water power to electrical energy. Electrical energy generated this way is known as hydroelecticity to differentiate it from electrical energy generated by other means, such as wind power, solar power, fossil fuels or nuclear fuels.
Well, there are many reasons as to why the Three Gorges Dam is and is not sustainable.Sustainable:Will hold up against floods- protecting precious agricultural land and peoples lives.Will protect the Yangtze river from landslides-stops sediment from blocking up the rivers path.Not sustainable:Will not hold out against typhoons (tornados or hurricanes in America)-they will just rip it up.Will not hold out against huge floods-giant floods will go over the top of the dam-letting water through and causing flooding on the land and increase water levels.

hydroelectric is not a type of tidal power. the speed of the water going down the tube starts a giant elastic band revolving. this then causes magnetism and starts a motor. so even though it is to do with water it is not the tide that is causing it but the water running down a hill in a tube.
