This system was initiated in 1975 by Government of India at national level. Before this programme separate programmes were being run at different places dealing with various problems. Childern remain undwer the careof trained Gram Sewikas.They educate them regarding language, numbers, etc.They are given nutritiou food. Immunisation is also arranged for the childern. There is one Gram Sewika for fifteen childern. Benefit scheme has reached around 40% to 50% of needy childern and poor families. Mothers are being educated regarding their health hazards, immunization, family planning and its benefits through ANGANWADIES, BALVADIS, TV, RADIO and MOVIES and other informationagencies. The Gram Savikas, Mahila Mandals also contribute in implementing this system.
