Ian Fleming spent his childhood and early adult life in England and worked during the early part of World War II in New York. He did not move to Jamaica until shortly after World War II when he purchased a plot of land near Galina point (about half way between Ocho Rios and Port Antonio) and built his home Goldeneye.
