It depends on which poverty line you are comparing it to because every nation has a different level of poverty. The CIA World Factbook states Iraq population below the poverty line to be at 25%. As a ,US. soldier who was deployed for over a year to Iraq, I can tell you that it is extremely higher compared to that of United States standards. Anyone who has ever been to Iraq knows that there are still people living in the biblical era as far as herding there flock, living in mud brick housing, and traveling by camel. I can assure you I am not joking here it is more so common in the south among the Shiites.
