Divergent sects or movements within Islam are not considered orthodox, such as the Kharijites, Ahmadis, Liberal Islam, and several others. There are also schools within the recognized sects that are considered divergent to a significant degree that their being considered orthodox is debated, such as Isma'ilis, Wahhabis, and Sufis.
