he think's the jury will see the blatant truth and innocence on tom robinson's part and set him free, when on the contrary in the end, after many hours of deliberation, they choose to declare him guilty, leaving jem heartbroken and distraught.

well the book was awesome, should have read it ;)

Jem is unable to accept the jury's conviction. In fact, he is ready to overhaul the justice system and abolish juries all together.
