What is Johann Sebastian bach's most famous piece?
I would say the Minuet in G (BWV Anh. 114), the aforementioned Air which was not orignally just on the G string (from BWV 1068), 'Jesu Bleibet Meine Freude' (from BWV 147) and Toccata in D Minor (from BWV 565).
A menuet, is a social dance of French origin for two people, usually in 3/4 time. Just like tango or watlz, there is no one called 'the Menuet', there are several menuets. Many famous menuets were composed by Strauss, Mozart and Beethoven, for example. Menuet antique is a piece for solo piano composed by Maurice Ravel. Minuet in G is a piece composed by Johann Sebastian Bach Menuet en fa major is a piece composed…
"Air on a G String" is a renowned piece of classical music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. It may be one of the most famous pieces of "baroque" music. An "air" in music is a lyrical song-like piece, often part of a larger work. "G string" in this context is the strong on the violin tuned to the note G. Some examples of "Air on a G String" are available at the link below.
Pachelbel's Canon, also known as Canon in D major (PWC 37, T. 337, PC 358), is the most famous piece of music by German Baroque composer Johann Pachelbel. It was originally scored for three violins and basso continuo and paired with a gigue in the same key. Like most other works by Pachelbel and other pre-1700 composers, the Canon remained forgotten for centuries and was rediscovered only in the 20th century. Several decades after it…

Bach actually wrote two toccata-and-fugue pairs in D minor, both in 1708. The most famous one (appeared in the original Fantasia movie, and often used as a stock piece of generic "scary music") is BWV 565. The other, sometimes called the "Dorian" toccata and fugue, is BWV 538. Check the number if you're looking to buy a recording!
For much the same reasons as the rest of Johann Sebastian Bach's compositions were: to earn a living, basically, and give the rest of the world the opportunity to enjoy all of his compositions. It's unlikely that JS Bach wrote this piece that has been attributed to him. It is unlike any of his other compositions in style and, well, quality.
In The Silence of the Lambs, Anthony Hopkins plays Dr. Hannibal (Hannibal the Cannibal) Lecter, a serial killer incarcerated for his crimes. He is a sophisticated epicure and enjoys good food and wine and classical music. The piece that he is shown listening to in the film is Goldberg Variations written by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). He left it unfinished at his death, although it wasn't the last piece he was working on. Along with his slightly earlier A Musical Offering, it is a collection of 18 of the most staggeringly complex and sophisticated treatments of a single theme in all of Western music. One canon, for example, has the tune playing against itself upside down and half as fast.
I like to believe that his 'Nabucco' is his most famous piece. The piece had the famous 'Va, Piensiero', which was sung by the Slave Choir. People of his time found this piece suited enough to be the National Anthem of Italy. The piece was also sung by ten-thousands of people in the streets of Milan as token of respect when he died of a stroke in 1901. There were more than a quarter of…
