The Middle Eastern area of Judaea (or, more simply, Judea), which features prominently in the Jewish/Christian Bible, is what is now known as the West Bank. It is presently controlled by the modern state of Israel, although this control continues to be disputed.

A:Judaea, or Judea, is the Roman name for the ancient kingdom of Judah, which would now correspond more of less to the southern part of the Palestinian Territory known as the West Bank. However, for administrative convenience, the Romans extended Judea to cover a much larger territory, so that it also included part of modern-day Israel.

Judea was the Roman name for the ancient kingdom of Judah, but under Herodian and Roman rule included various other territories, for administrative convenience. The kingdom of Judah more or less forms the southern part of the Palestinian territory of the West Bank. Some Israelis refer to the West Bank as "Judah and Samaria (Israel)".
