Macbeth hallucinates a floating dagger leading him to King Duncan's chamber. The dagger represents his inner conflict and guilt about the murder he is about to commit.

Lady Macbeth was suffering from extreme guilt of the act of murder against Duncan. She was confessing to the crime in her sleep. The guilt was eating away at her until she committed suicide.
He sees a dagger in his hand like the one he will use to kill Duncan. It is purely a hallucination, the audience cannot see it.
Macbeth sees a dagger floating in front of him just before he goes to murder King Duncan. This vision is a hallucination that represents his internal conflict and the evil thoughts that are consuming him.
Yeah, right before you lose consciousness and die.
Duncan was feeling relaxed and content before he went to bed.
In "Macbeth," after he had slain Duncan, Macbeth went on to commit additional murders to cover his tracks, even without his wife's prompting. Before the death of Duncan, he needed the pushing of Lady Macbeth to kill. Once the deed was done, however, he came across as someone willing to do whatever it took to keep his new status and not be exposed.
"Is this a dagger which I see before me, its handle toward my hand?"
yes ofcourse Macbeth's mind changes ,at first he also feels like killing king duncan but later he drops down his idea as he remembers that he is Duncan's subject,kinsman,his host for the night and he should protect the guest instead of playing the murderer himself and also Duncan had bestowed many honours on him..but after sometime lady macbeth comes and encourages him for killing duncan n tells him that he had thought of killling Duncan he was drunk as she would consider his love also to be as fickle as that..she keeps telling him what not and finally he again thinks of killing King Duncan

Macbeth encounters three witches who make prophecies that he will become king. He later sees a vision of a dagger before he murders King Duncan. Macbeth also sees the ghost of Banquo at a banquet, which increases his paranoia and guilt.
Duncan showed both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth a complete respect!
