Wig Wag ( here using on-and-off lateral lights) is used on Grade Crossing signals on the Railroad- lateral apparent motion. as regards Morse, wig-wag is used with signal flags-one at a time, as distinguished from semaphore with a minimum of two flags. Signal Flags used by the Army are red and white- as is the Polish Flag.

MORSE CODING AND WIG WAGGING
A hand signalling procedure that is adapted for use with Morse Code.
It is a system of signalling. Probably best known from using devices such as flags for sending signals
Field telephones, runner, carrier pigeons, early radio and wig wagging.
The Morse Code is a coding system using dots and dashes (or short and long pulses) to represent each letter of the alphabet. It was used with the telegraph as the primary code for sending messages through a system that could not reproduce the human voice but could reproduce clicks, with the amount of time between the clicks representing the short and long coding.
Wagging is the present participle of the word "wag" - to move with short, quick motions.
Your dog' s tail is wagging because he is exited or likes something you did.
The possessive form is: The wet dog's tail is wagging.
Morse Code, created by Samuel Morse, was designed to transmit letters across the Telegraph system. He wanted frequently used letters to have short codes and less frequently used letters to have longer codes.
