Neoclassicism is the name given to various movements of the late 17th to mid-19th centuries. The principles of Neoclassic style are seen in the decorative and visual arts, literature, theater, music, and architecture that draw inspiration from the "classical" art and culture of Ancient Greece or ancient Rome.

Neoclassicism was an art movement that started in the 18th century, a unemotional form of art going back to the classical style of the Greek and roman times. Its rigid style was a reaction to the Frivolous Rococo style and the very emotional charged Baroque style. Neoclassical artists wanted to revive interest in classical austerity and what they considered pure, to represent political truths and play a part in influencing French Revolutionists. Mason Stone
