Olivia was the daughter of a noble Sicilian family. She was quite beautiful and at the age of 13 was kidnapped by Muslims and was taken as a slave to Tunis. Impressed by her virtue the abductors allowed her to live as a hermitess. However over a period of time Muslims started to convert to Christianity because of her therefore resulting in her death. They tried to burn her but the flames would not touch her so finally they decapitated her which ended her life.
She is the patron saint of Palermo. Her feast day is June 10.
