The history of acupuncture in china?

Acupuncture - what is it? Many people have a general understanding on the fact that it is a medical term used to describe a procedure involving the use of needles on the surface of the skin to eliminate pain and discomfort. However, even as this is the basic definition for this medical treatment, a lot of people fail to realize just how much more complex and detailed this medicinal procedure actually is in its entirety. This is especially true in regards to the history of acupuncture. Most people in Western society don’t even realize that acupuncture originated in ancient civilizations like Egypt and China, nor do they understand that it was introduced to America many years later. Acupuncture, while it elusively predates any recorded history in civilization, is considered to have inherited its true birth in the nation of China. In the beginning, acupuncture was more than just a form of medical treatment. It was a spiritual connection to what the Chinese considered as being the divine force that held supreme power over the universe, and it was deeply rooted in Taoist custom. This divine force is most commonly alluded to as Yin and Yang, the archetypal symbols of masculine and feminine power. It was around 1000 B.C. when the first concrete physical evidence was found in hieroglyphs that depicted the use of acupuncture. At the time, stones were used instead of needles. Needles would be introduced in the Warren States Era. From 265-581 A.D., acupuncture was a booming profession in china. It was primarily utilized in the Northern, Jin and Southern dynasties. By this time, there was a prominent array of Chinese publications, arts and scholarly records centering on the topic of acupuncture. In the Tang and Sui dynasties, acupuncture underwent significant progression. A renowned scientist by the name of Sun Simio published a work called Prescription With a Thousand Gold For Emergencies that provided comprehensive details on the practice of acupuncture based on the studies of different scholars. Over a period of time that spanned over thousands of years, many Chinese scholars, philosophers and scientists revamped acupuncture to be the amazing, richly colored medical science it is today.
