an armed conflict between oyster catcher/fishers from Maryland and Virginia. This conflict occurred because oyster fishers in the Va side of the Chesapeake ran out of oysters so they started hunting in the MD side of the Chesapeake. The hunter from Md did not like that so they fired upon the fishers from Va. In response, the fisher from Va returned fire and stated what is now know as the Oyster War (it was sometime in the 18th century).
