he had a main role in the 30 second gunfight at the OK Corral in which he fought with Virgil Earp, Morgan Earp and Doc Holiday. They fought against Billy and Ike Clanton and Tom and Frank McLaury. Earp was an interesting character in western history and best known as a frontiersman, marshal, gambler. He was born March 19, 1849 to a farming family. When he was 13 he tried to run away to join his brothers in fighting the civil war with the Union army, but he was returned home. At 17 he left home and worked for the Union Pacific railroad in CA to grade track and at the same time he learned to box. He also became a gambler. In 1869 he returned home in Lamar, Missouri and got married. A year later his wife and baby died of typhus and now he moved on again. He was arrested on Arkansas for stealing horses, but escaped the jail cell before he went before a judge. In 1876 he move to Wichita, Kansas where his brother Virgil had opened a brothel for the cowboys. At the same time he began working with a police officer part-time. In 1879 he joined his brothers and his friend Doc Holiday in Tombstone, AZ and this is where the legend of Earp becomes history with the gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Earp died on Jan. 13, 1929 in Los Angles.
