There is a lack of a good data base for H&R serial numbers. The seven shot early model of the Hunter revolver dates from around 1900.
The owl's head was an Iver Johnson trademark. The model 1900 was made from 1900 to 1947.
The only reference that I could find to a 9 shot Iver Johnson revolver was the model 1900 Target large frame revolver that was made from 1921-1941.i hope that this is the firearm in question.
