What you have is not a dollar but is a Peso. The 1959 peso is not a rare date, and only is 10% silver. Even though it is a large coin, it only has about a buck or two of silver in it, and you'd be lucky to get more than a dollar for it even in perfect condition from a coin dealer because it is a common coin and isn't worth it to get it melted down for silver content because it isn't very pure silver at all. In comparison, most US silver coins are 90% pure silver (with the only exceptions being the 35% silver war nickels and 40% silver 1965-1970 half dollars and a handful of collector coins struck in 40% silver).
