Found it! Its black, kinda square, and has two holes for attachment. Also has a small
tube coming out of it , its not connected to anything. It has its terminate as well (3
wires). Its location is no where near the engine compartment. It is located right above
the ECM, near the left passenger side, near the floor. Its behind the black plastic with
two buttons on the plastic. Its there for the 2001 maxima, not in the engine compartment.
Good luck.
There is no such part as a piston sensor.

If you look at the front grill, below the bumper, the small bulb like sensor is snapped into the lower drivers side there.
YOU QUESTION IS DIFFICULT TO UNDER STAND...BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR ASKING WHAT THAT IS .IF THE PIECE YOUR TALKING ABOUT IS IN THE AIR INTAKE LINE .WITH A PLUG ON IT, NEAR THE BATTERY AND BEFORE THE ELBOW...THAT WOULD BE THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR...LOOK AT MY BIO PAGE TONS OF INFO ON MAXIMA....BUDDY MACK
look at where the headers come off the engine. follow this and there should be a rod like projection sticking out with wires running down from it. that is your O2 sensor.
The mass airflow sensor is installed in the air intake duct If you look at the air filter box it is just to the left on the arm of the box
It's a pain to get at. It closest to the firewall passenger side of exhaust. Look up from the oil pan
