A Christmas log or Yule log (or, in French, buche de noel) is a traditional dessert served in France, Quebec, and other francophone countries. It is usually made by baking a sponge cake in a Swiss roll pan and then frosting it and rolling it into a cylinder shape. The most common kind is yellow sponge cake with chocolate buttercream filling, but many variations exist.
