A Class 185 ''Desiro'' or ''Pennine Desiro'' is a train used by First Transpennine Express (FTPE) on most of their routes. The Diesel Multiple Units (DMU)'s were made by Siemens in Germany, delivered to the UK, and entered service on the 21st March 2006, and have been working ever since, these units replaced to older Class 158 ''Express Sprinter'' units, which are Now Displaced with companies such as Northern, East Midlands Trains and First Great Western.
The name ''Desiro'' was applied by Siemens to is production of the Family of trains which share the same designs. The other members of the Desiro family are the Class 350, 360, 444 and 450 units. The class 185 was the first Diesel Powered member of the Desiro family...
