with an ac motor you remove the ac apply dc and it stops it very quickly
most of the chop saws have a rather big universal motor
the trigger on the handle is released removing the power
the motor is coasting acting as a dc generator
then if you let off the trigger completely it shorts across the motor leads until the motion stops and there is no dc present
