A maid is basically - "das Mädchen" or "die Magd".

but the difference start to show in when the context in which it is to be used changes.

So it can be translated in the following different ways, but there are alot more.

A young girl would be - "das Mädchen".

A old maid as in an elderly unmarried woman would be - "alte Jungfer"

A serving maid would be - "das Dienstmädchen" or "Kammermädchen"

A Chamber maid would be - "das Stubenmädchen" or "Zimmermädchen"

A Dairy maid would be - "die Milchmagd" or "Milchmädchen"
