no it is not legal. i am going through this right now. i hae never had a ged or hs diploma and i was approved to go to a casino dealers school but i cannot get a job in the casino now because they require you to show them a hs diloma or ged and i do not have one to show them. they just offset and took $6000.00 of my taxes this year and i will get it back.
Without going for a GED, you'll usually (not always, but most of the time) end up with dead-end jobs with little chance to move up. Your salary will be capped at a much lower rate than those with a GED or HS diploma. According to the US Census, without a GED or HS diploma, average annual earnings are $23,000 per year. With a GED or HS diploma, it jumps up to $30,000. Over the course of a lifetime, that's about $200,000 difference (or around the cost of a house).
