No the 2001 Chevy Tahoe is not equipped with the LATCH system for car seats. The LATCH system did not become standard in Chevy Tahoes until the 2002 models.
I believe the 2003 - and newer have the LATCH System. Check related link below... How the LATCH System Works on Car Seats
I have a 2001 Honda Accord. Yes, it does have the LATCH system. Great car. -- Well, I just tried to install a car seat in a 2001 Honda Accord half an hour ago and there is NO LATCH system. And this is a family car!! How utterly puzzling.
no they do not
It should be.
Nope
I've done a little research on this. My Advice; READ YOUR CAR MANUAL!!! If it says you only have LATCH for the two outer seats, that's all you have. You can not use the inner most LATCH hooks for the middle. According to a posting I found here's why; "My SUV only has the LATCH system on the side seats and not the middle seat. I spoke to the car safety officier for the police department ... he told me not to use the LATCH in the middle position (by using the side seats LATCH system) since my SUV is not equipped with it is because the LATCH is connected to the car frame and if we were in an accident and the frame of the car bent it could tear his seat in pieces. I was not aware that the LATCH was connected to the frame" From: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1VTXRFKRIM6XK If you can get a secure fit using the seat beat in the middle, this is the safest place. If not, use the LATCH on the passenger side.
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo...It does NOT have a latch system.
Make sure the car is unlocked. If the car is locked, so is the gas latch.
It should be printed right on the car, just under the hood near the latch.
Do not exceed the weight of 45 lbs on any Latch system.
It depends on what is wrong with the cable. When you pull the hood release within the car, is the latch not popping? If you can get the hood up at all, then you should look at the actual latch system where the cable runs, there is a metal clip that holds the cable to the latch. Have another person pull the interior latch release and watch the cable.
