The Morgan Silver Dollar Coin is a very special. The design was issued from 1878 to 1904 and in 1921. It's considered to be one of the most beautiful American circulation coins ever issued. Many common ones are still relatively inexpensive at $35 to $50, while the rarest can be worth over $100,000.
These coins were made of 90% silver and 10% copper, and contain about 0.77 troy ounces of pure silver. The finest known examples of the Morgan Silver Dollar can sell for nearly $1 million.

The last Morgan was struck in 1921. This coin is an EISENHOWER dollar, unless it has a "S" mintmark it's just a big dollar coin. Just spend it.
The first Morgan dollar was coined in 1878, a US dollar coin dated 1797 is a Draped Bust dollar. If you actually have a dollar coin dated 1797, take it to a coin dealer for an accurate assessment.

Please look at the coin again. The first Morgan was struck in 1878. A silver dollar dated 1869 would be a Liberty Seated dollar and none were struck at the New Orleans Mint.
The last Morgan was struck in 1921. A dollar coin dated 1992 is an "American Silver Eagle" bullion coin, it's value is tied to the spot price of silver at the time of sale.
