In computer terms, Tb stands for Terabit. 1 Tb = 1,000,000,000,000 (1 trillion bits). That is equal to 1000 Gb (Gigabits). Bits are common in networking, such as a network's throughput measured in bits (most common speeds are 100/1000 Mb Megabits, although 1000 Mb or 1 Gigabit is becoming more common even in consumer grade equipment). However, a TB (notice capital 'B') stands for TeraByte (equivalent to 1000 GB GigaBytes). You'll notice that MB, GB and TB are more commonly used in modern computing environment. This is because data is represented in Bytes and a Byte is the most basic form of storage. Your hard drives are sold in quantities of Bytes (100 GB, 250 GB, 1TB etc). Hope this helps. -CodeCop
