In case you didn't know, World of Warcraft (often refered to as WoW) is in a game genre known as MMORPG, which stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. This means that you play as an individual person, and you play alongside many other players. A character is an avatar, a person that represents you as a player. They can be customized in almost infinite ways, including Faction, Race, Class (I shall elaborate soon enough), Skin Colour, Hair Colour, Hair Style, and Face. There are also unique customization options for certain races, including Horns, Horn Colour, and Tusks. Aside from this, there are also millions of pieces of Armour and Weapons. Race: A race in World Of Warcraft is what sort of character you are. They are unique and different from each other, both in looks, as well as lore and history. They are as follows:
Horde Races: Orc, Troll, Undead, Tauren, Blood Elf (TBC)
Alliance Races: Human, Night Elf, Gnome, Dwarf, Draenei (TBC)

Faction: There are two playable factions in World Of Warcraft, the Horde and the Alliance. The Horde (or 'Hordies') are the more 'evil' faction in World Of Warcraft, and are a group of races united together for survival, as well as common purpose. The Alliance (or 'Allys') are the more 'good' faction in World Of Warcraft, and are united for strength, as well as sharing a common hatred for the Horde. These two factions are constantly at war with each other.
