A Barn Chaser is someone who finds old barns and old barn styles to photograph or explore or both. Many barn chasers are history buffs and historical architecture buffs as well.Many styles of barns exist and many are built in a certain way in order to hold up to the environment they are in. So for instance a barn in Colorado would have a certain type of roof system in order to keep snow pile up to a minimum, while a barn in Texas would be larger to accommodate hay and cattle. barns are built to suit the environment around them and to the community or farm they serve. There are several books about barn styes and many more books with photos of old barns. Many of these old abrns are being torn down, but a resurgence in old barn wood as an interior design aspect has been quite popular in recent years which makes them even harder to find due to demand for the old barn wood.
